PS4: Last of Us "This is next Gen"

Naughty Dog's Drew Thaler has shared some interesting new details regarding The Last of Us: Remastered for Playstation 4. Via Twitter, Drew stated that development work on The Last of Us: Remastered is almost done and it looks beautiful. He also added that even after ton of contents on disc, The Last of Us: Remastered load faster at 60 FPS.

"Take a full disc. Up-rez literally everything (incl audio). Add 1GB MP maps, 5GB Left Behind. Fit on same disc. Load faster. Sixty."

"This is next-gen for me: compared to PS3, PS4 TLOU:R is loading higher-res data and WAY more of it to fill 8 GiB, and it's *still* faster."

"The Last of Us: Remastered for PS4. We're almost done, and it's beautiful. "

When asked whether he means 5GB because Playstation 4 reserves 3gb to the OS and other background stuff? To this Drew clarified:

"Both systems need mem for the OS. In a technical presentation I might use pedantic numbers, for a tweet you get the round ones. "

He further clarified he was referring to both "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and The Last of Us: Remastered" with this tweet "This game is going to look so damn good."

"Both, but I was looking at TLOU:R when I said it!" clarified Drew.

"Both … but I was looking at TLOU:R when I said it. Side-by-side it's just crazy how much better it is than PS3."

Lastly Drew stated that those who missed The Last of Us on Playstation 3, Remastered on Playstation 4 will be worth it.

" It'll be worth it!"

The Last of Us: Remastered is scheduled to launch on July 29 exclusively for Playstation 4. Watch latest trailer showcased at E3 2014 below​

Naughty Dog‘s debut on PlayStation 4 is closing in. I’m obviously referring to TLOU Remastered, the enhanced version of the most celebrated game released in 2013 (over 200 Game of the Year Awards).

If you haven’t had the chance to play the game before, I can recommend the game wholeheartedly, as I’ve nomined it my Game of the Year as well and it easily makes my list of Top 10 games ever played. Thanks to the power of PlayStation 4, TLOU Remastered will be running at 1080P@60FPS and many Naughty Dog programmers and artists have been praising the PS4 version in the last few days on Twitter.


Ramy El Garawany said that it’s hard to describe how amazing the game feels now, and that he can’t wait for players to experience it themselves.

With all this tease, the hype is indeed rising for the 29th July release date. We don’t have any gameplay footage yet, but Sony did say in the original announcement that we can expect the following enhancements: higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures, along with even more.


If you don’t have a PlayStation 4 yet, you may be interested in the bundle revealed yesterday by Sony Computer Entertainment: for 429€ you can get the console, a DualShock 4 controller and the game; this has only been confirmed for Europe so far, but it seems likely that it will happen for North America as well.

Good thing I went with my gut feeling and didn't buy it for last gen. I knew a game coming out that close to the release of the ps4 was bound to get remastered and now I get to experience it for the first time in all its glory
