Hi everybody and Happy New Year !!!

We expect many great things for the new year.

To inaugurate the new year we have some new info about the next generation console manufactured by Sony: Orbis.

In this case we have the earlier roadmap.

2011 June/July – PC with Win7 64-bit and a “jailbroken” ATI r9 graphics card
2011 Sept/Oct – PC with Win7 64-bit and a “jailbroken” ATI r10 graphics card
2012 Q1 – disclosure to more developers
2012 E3 – potential unveiling window start
2012 Jul – devkits for engineers writing OS
2012 Q3 – first true hardware prototype devkits
2013 E3 – potential unveiling window end
2013 Q4 – launch

Soon we will put new interesting info about Orbis and Durango.

PS4 "Orbis"
- AMD APU Solution (Jaguar/Steamroller), 4 cores, Higher Clock than X720/Durango
- Maybe AMD 8000 series GPU solution
- 2-4GB GDDR5
- Launch Fall 2013/Early 2014

Explanation: PS4 has a higher clock, but less cores and is using an APU solution (CPU & GPU elements combined onto a single chip). The PS4 has less RAM but is using faster GDDR ram, so the overall performance should be a wash.

Xbox 720 "Durango"
- AMD Jaguar 1.6GHZ 8-Core
- AMD 8800/8900 GPU
- 8GB Ram (DDR3?)
- Launch 2013

Explanation: 720 has a lower clock, but more cores. 720 has more but SLOWER RAM. DDR3 RAM is usually good for things like multitasking etc....It is expected to be based on Windows 8 as well.

Note: GDDR ram is more suitable for Graphics Processing (In PS4), and DDR3 is more suitable for OS Tasks (720). It is expected that the 720 may need some sort of ES/ED Ram to compensate. Basically, don't get caught up in the RAM size but the RAM type. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=507910

Durango is going to be :flabbynsick: juxtaposed with Orbis.

Considering Crytek and many developers have said New consoles need atleast 8 GB of ram to compete this shyt is :flabbynsick: on site. even with 2GB-4 of DDR5 it still is behind.

eSDRAM is rumored for the xbox.

Honestly I think both systems will be fine. When your playing your not going to be comparing it side by side to a PC version running it with higher specs.

Also people saying the graphics leap won't be big are wilding. Hell God of War 3 still amazes me as well as UC2 and those games are old now.

PS4 will still have the edge and it's exclusives will be again dropping jaws to hardwood floors across the nation and worldwide in the coming months. A storm is brewing..

GDDR5 would be for the actual graphics chip...not system ram in the PS4

Unless there is some sort of mistake...I would assume sony will put 8GB of DDR3 ram as well.

It's a shame, but I don't blame them. Ken Kutaragi went off the deep end with the Cell, and Sony paid for it. Might as well make this system easy to develop for.

It worked with the PS2...thats why they continued going their own way. Do people even remember why the PS2 was such a beast?

People don't seem to realize the history of this video game shyt on here.

Then again, the PS2 had an affordable launch prince. Let's not forget all the early complaints about developing with the Emotion Engine as well.... which granted later became mute once the system started selling like crazy.

**on a totally different subject**

PS2 emulation on the PC came a long way, I'm playing Final Fantasy X on PCSX2.

Ps2 had market share first and foremost.
It didn't matter if the sh1t was easy to develop for or not.
It was make games for the ps2 or potentially miss out on millions of
dollars.

It didn't win because it was the most powerful, the easiest to develop
or any of that sh1t.

It won because it came out first, was marketed well and coming in after a major success (the ps1).

And them going their own way only got them royally fvcked this generation.
Which allowed the Microsoft and Nintendo to pretty much void Sony's run
in the previous generation.

Yup, the PSone was so successful that SONY came in and could do whatever the fukk they wanted. They would have easily won this generation if they did not fukk up with that ridiculous launch price.
