So up until this morning I thought I had a Launch PS4 pre-ordered from Amazon. I got an email this morning basically saying I had the standard edition.
Naturally I got pissed and decided to contact Amazon customer service to see what the deal was with these here shenanigans. Here is the convo

Me:I ordered a PS4 and it was clearly listed as a launch PS4. This morning I get an email saying its the standard edition and I won't get delivery until January 6. What's the issue here?

Me:Ok. It was launch as far as I knew until this morning.
Rasheeda:The launch edition was available yes, but it looks like you selected Standard shipping for the order? In order to qualify for the Launch Edition, you would need to have selected Two Day shipping.
If you like, I can change that shipping speed for you to two day shipping, meaning that this will arrive on Tuesday, December 31, 2013?
That would bring your shipping charges to $7.98

what does shipping have to do with the sku I order?
and why would it reflect a launch edition up until 3 am today?

Rasheeda:The launch edition (versus the standard edition) is the one that would reach you on the date that the item is released, if that makes sense? So the shipping speed, would impact when that would reach you.

but i'm hearing that people with the launch edition are getting their ps4s in like October
so thats like 2 full months
Rasheeda:As far as we know, that will be released in December only. It is possible that Sony may move the release date of the PS4, we can't know that for sure. If they do move it up faster, your delivery date would change, but it would still only reach you 3-5 business days after that, because Standard shipping is being used. Does that make sense?
Me:I can't fully neglect my wife and dogs if I don't have my hardware

so the standard pre order and the launch preorder only differs by delivery method?
