Current gen machines are not x86.
what i'm saying is if i play Tomb Raider a current generation game on my PC right now it will hover around 50 some odd frames per second and could dip into the 30s under stress if everything it turned up and the hardware in my PC is far better than what they're putting in a $400 console.

these new consoles aren't gonna be doing 1080p 60 fps more than likely they'll be 1080p 30 fps or 720p 60 fps. they just aren't gonna have the power to do what people expect. why should they even do 1080p when they can do 720p 60fps and do more on screen anyway? consoles for the most part don't strive for 60 fps because to achieve that you typically have to turn down the graphics.

And most people playing games on high/ultra are using about all of the power their system has to offer. They can't afford to run anything in the backround or at the same time.
:gladbron: You just reminded me, I can actually do the things that's coming out for Xbox one RIGHT NOW!!! ohLAWD.gif

these people aren't getting that the consoles we're coming off of damn near couldn't run games in 720p at 30 fps in many cases. many of these games were rendered in sub 720p resolutions on the consoles and just unconverted to 720p. suddenly we're gonna go from that to 1080p 60 fps which is still something many PC gamers can't even get unless they turn the effects down.

I don't think these next consoles will have as long of a lifespan as the Ps3/360.

i think the market is about to transition away from people buying a dedicated gaming box as the hardware in smartphones and tablets becomes more competent. why go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a dedicated gaming device when you already own things that can play games? at some point its gonna be you use HDMI out on a tablet to a TV and buy the game pad for it and just play off that.

honestly i think this is one of the last generations of mainstream dedicated gaming hardware. we're already watching the beginnings of Android and iOS overtaking portable gaming in revenue. the consoles will likely be next.

I think there will be one more solid console generation after this short one. Then the split will be handheld or PC.

EA knows this, that's why they are trying to push origin as hard as they can.

edit: Valve has known for a long time. Steam and the box they will make will be "console like" but upgradable. I think I know exactly what they are doing out there

you are right, they are building $700-$800 desktops that crush what these consoles are pushing
You don't even have to spend that much to build a gaming PC that will outperform the consoles, if you know how to look for deals.

You can at least try to put in a better effort next time instead of making struggle replies.

You really think? After how extended the last cycle was i expect this next cycle to also go long. In 7 years the tech in phones and tablets will be crazy if we're still even using them as we are now. The hardware in them will be good enough to run console style games that would likely cost far less to produce than actual console games and turn better profits.

You PC gamers are gonna have to realize that console gamers do not want to game on PC
I want a console. I have a PC, I could easily upgrade the graphics card and start the feast.
But you know what, I have literaly ZERO desire to go that route.
EA knows this you say  But your problem along with too many other ppl is you talk out your asses
You have a bias for the things you like, then you superimpose that onto the masses.
See, if EA was thinking like you? Explain this

So PC isn't EA's focus. How about Handhelds which was the other option you said?
You can't be serious bruh? Handhelds die off this gen. Cellphones make handhelds obsolete, especially once a certain invention comes out that I won't even say because I can still invent it
But most of us are well aware that cellphones >>> handhelds. Handhelds just have better control options
Halo: Spartan Ops is a fukkin BEAST tho. I was SHOCKED at how good it was.

Finally, this is the wrong thread but I'll pass this to you anyway. Your Lumia 521 camera button stuck.
Same thing happened to me last week. I was a little bummed out for a... damn, I waited about 3 days :manny: But just take it out the case and mess with it. Something probably got wedged in somewhere. After a few wiggles it works fine again for me. Haven't had the problem since.
