All this in reaction to your Metal Gear Solid post?just raise the gamma in the game options and be done with it.
You did this on PS4?? Your brightness settings are probably all the way up making all the boxes visible albeit washed out in color(greyish looking blacks)@Fatboi1
I just did the limited vs full and notice no difference? Is it because i have a shytty ass dynex tv?
Nah, if you're on a TV most likely it only supports RGB Limited. Disregard the word used here as it doesn't mean "lesser" image it's all a naming thing. Some TV's have this setting and name it differently so I'm not too sure about your setup. I'd say do the black levels test with the above image in the OP.So to get the best picture, you want your TV to be on Full RGB?
The setting on my TV can change from Auto, Standard (16-235 bits), or Non Standard.
I just did the block test on my PS4 browser & I changed my tv setting to nonstandard (which I guess is limited) and I'm able to see all the blocks. So now would I change the PS4 settings to limited?Nah, if you're on a TV most likely it only supports RGB Limited. If your game console or PC(hooked up to your HDTV) is set to FULL RGB while your TV only supports RGB Limited, you'll get crap like this where dark scenes in games are REALLLY dark and lots of detail is lost and turning up the brightness will make your image look washed out and white bright scenes will be too bright.
Here's an example I found online.
Anyway here's an example:
1- Full -> Full. Looks fine.
2- Full -> Limited. Crushed blacks & whites. A mix of can't see shyt captain (e.g the gun or some details on the Helghast on the left) and my eyes are burning (stuff that is "too bright" e.g that yellow/white thing on the Helghast on the left).
3- Limited -> Full. Washed out. Shadows are lost.
4- Limited -> Limited. Looks fine and pretty much identical to 1.

You see how image 2 and 3 look?? That's usually how mismatch settings would appear.
Yeah. I guess your PS4 was set to Auto and it was already set to limited. A while ago the automatic feature on PS4 would set it to "Full" by default which was wrong for many users. Try seeing if it works with "standard" on your TV and full on PS4. What's your make and model?I just did the block test on my PS4 browser & I changed my tv setting to nonstandard (which I guess is limited) and I'm able to see all the blocks.
