This is why xbox needs to remain a competitor to playstation, despite not winning this generation. When there is no competition, the only ones that will suffer are consumers.

PlayStation has already reached a level where they can mostly ignore what Xbox does on hardware. Over 80 million vs like maybe 30 million. The market has shown it does not care about competition.

Many consumers seem to want a single box where they can have it all. PlayStation and PC are the closest to that.

In the time Nintendo was fukking around i had several friends that were able to buy PS5s for the low and various accessories that are still the same price today. It's really not the same but yall gonna say its fanboyism to note the differences. shyts silly.

Sony sold...err shipped 80 million consoles. They've been making profit off it since 2021 and the whole time the system legitimately has done nothing but gotten more expensive. They could have ate this 50 dollar price raise because of tariffs as "the consoles price drop" Nope, they let y'all know as soon as they out of stock the price going up and Y'all dudes have been hyping them up the entire time while each year get less and less from them but givem more and more.

I want to say almost everything from hardware to software on the PS5 has gone up while they are #1 in console sales, if you lucky and stay in the US it hasn't been too bad outside of PSN constant price hikes.

When it's all said and done, they all basically have made up their minds to not take a huge loss on hardware sales if any loss at all going forward.

When a corporation has no competition, that's when they are at their worst. Nintendo has no competition since they are not competing with the xbox and Sony, and they are very anti-consumer. I wouldn't say the steam deck is a competitor since that is a niche device. A competitor would be one that appeals to the mass market. Were there a competitor that capitalized on their anti-consumer ways by being pro-consumer, Nintendo would change their approach because of the chance of their competitor taking away consumers. That same competitor would also be anti-consumer the way Nintendo is were there no competitors against them. These corporations will push the boundaries when consumers tolerate what they attempt with that being even worse with no competition. Competition also inspires innovation, and requires companies be at their best because their competition can take away consumers.

You had dudes on twitter tagging Sony asking if they're gonna do it. PS5 was $399 for mad long and we had summer discounts. Sony could've been jacked those prices up and the prices of all their accessories if it was like that.

This whole discourse is just so weird. Companies don’t owe it to consumers to price a certain way and consumers don’t owe it to companies to buy their products.

A company raising the price of their products especially when it’s known the cost of the product has gone up isn’t anti-consumer.

The people that run these companies have a responsibility to enrich the shareholders not please the customers. Their attempts to please customers are a means to enriching the shareholders and they do it when it serves that goal.

All this is especially wild in video games where consumers latch on to corporations with this whole attitude of they’re my buddy and we’re on the same side attitude. That couldn’t be further from the truth. While fans hold positive feelings towards the company to a corporation fans are cattle to be milked.
