PUBG is everything that people say doesn’t matter in this console “war” discussion.
It was a super popular game that was exclusively on PC then finally on Xbox and pc.
While in the mean time someone released another more colorful version on all platforms and it blew up bigger than PUBG could ever hope to be on 1 and then 2 platforms.
Multi plat games are what matter in the long run for mega success. (Unless your Nintendo) and even then....
Your red dead’s, gta’s Witcher’s mass effects, tekken, final fantasy, those all only got so big on one console. Once they branches out they became immensely more successful

You seem to have left out that the game is free.
I think it's easy to say a lot of this in retrospect. but no one thought PUBG would be so successful. and the PUBG guys probably didn't think that Epic, who they were working with, would do them dirty. I guess you can fault them for being naive
That is a big part of the reason and the other part is you can play it on everything including your phone. If it was just on Ps4, or PC or Xbox or Mobile it wouldn't be nearly a big as it it now either.
Just like all the rest of the titles I mentioned.
It's FREE. Jesus. Oranges and Durians son. If God of War released on PC, Xbox and Switch it would be even bigger. Wow profound statement.

Yall love flipping stuff, My whole point tied back to the whole multi plat games aren't as important or impactful as exclusives. But when it comes to profit, popularity the numbers show different. Exclusives just look good to these console war debates. Yeah they help move units but when its all said and done it benefits companies more to make multi plat games or have one that runs the best on there system, and multi plat games are more what the casual average gamer plays and cares about.
