I was disappointed with this album when it came out, but listening to it recently it was cool.

the album had a lot to live up to, no way out was a moment in time and the culmination of years of anticipation from badboy for puff to deliver on his second offering. After focusing on RnB in 98 with total, 112 and faith in a year that was dominated by rap with DMX and Jay-Z.

Puff already had a changing hiphop landscape with his in-house badboy production being challenged with a more gritty sound from ruff ryders and rocafella. The Mase retirement announcement and let the lox go campaign didn’t help the diddy movement either. Hate me now came out in the spring and puff released public enemy number 1 in the summer.

album was dope to me, if he focused on introducing his newer acts like Shyne, Rob and Dep with the tracks “reverse” and “gangsta sh*t” and should of released videos for the tracks with Jay-z “do you like it” and Nas and Beanie “journey through the life”
