I think that's the point. It's like a return for PHarrelll going back to those dirty Neptunes sounds. Many of his new "Happy" fans have no clue of his previous life.

That said, I love the beat, but Diddy's verses are wack. It's no wonder they started the BET performance out with Pharrell's part b/c it's clearly the best part

you can tell the lyrics are meant for the visuals to be apart of a dance where people going to battlin on the floor. Not super lyrical to say "get on down, get on up!" But thats what people will remember and will make their own moves and chereography to it.
