Puff was behind several classic albums. No, he didn't manually create beats, but his genius was putting albums together. If he's back to that, then his return is welcome.

Boy i had a laugh reading this thread for reasons we all know about but yeah, even though Puff can't put together a beat by himself he has a musical vision and uses the producers to plasm that vision out of them, kind of like
Lee "Scratch" Perry did in the 60s and 70s .

So yeah I'm curious to hear some results out of that. (it can still suck of course).

This was 1998 right? That's not surprising. People were running with the popular belief that Dre had fallen off. Wasn't RZA like #2? I'm definitely not saying Puff was better, but this was when he was everywhere. Life After Death, No Way Out, and Harlem World had Puff & The Hitmen dominating radio and that's not counting the songs they did for artists outside of Bad Boy.

Yeah. I regret not holding on to my Source mags. That same issue, I remember Biggie's "Machine Gun Funk"(Easy Moe Bee) was like #4 ranked beat of all time.

nah I'm playing. Diddy is "responsible" (to an undetermined degree) for some of the hottest music the past 20+ years, so hopefully he can get back to that level
