You even hit on how people do this in other areas outside of music, with speeches, Bible verses, etc..
We didn't have a choice back in the day:russ:

I break down mysticism with these type of things because as we get used to technologies (like books) we forget or massively underestimate how powerful our brains are

Fukk no I tried to read Dune once and made it 10 pages:mjlol: I intend on reading it eventually but definitely don't have enough of a reference to be a fan:russ:
That's too bad! You would really love the Mentats—they're like human computers. It reminds me of what you mentioned in your two posts about the human brain's ability to remember things, which is similar to the concepts in the "Dune" books. You should try to get back into reading the series. I know it's hard to start because the books can get really weird:mindblown:.

Nahh just a studio tactic

But now evolved into a full fledge stylistic instrument - I actually pretty much will only listen to punch-in rap nowadays

So looking at this video I get the punching in thing but would it not be better to write down some of their bars beforehand to at least get a idea of what they want to rap about?
We used to just record ourselves freestyling for 10 minutes straight, then write down the good bars into a verse and memorize it until we could record it one take. If we couldn't record it one take we would either stretch and keep trying or shorten a few bars because when I was doing artist showcases you would get booed offed the stage.

The only time I'm thrown off by punch ins is Cormegas old music

Im sure I could probably find them if I'm actually listening for it but it's kinda whatever..

Rappers recording their entire verses in one take is not very common lol.. Never really has been

If you ever recorded before you'd know how difficult that shyt is to do every verse.. It's just not that serious..

And no one complained about the way Wayne recorded until he told everyone.. It's complaining about how the sauce is made.. Is it less skillful, sure but if you like the end result who gives af

Not even Jay is one taking every verse, that's asinine
I'm an engineer and I used to record mad rappers in the late 2000s and 2010s and almost of them recorded their verse in one take even if it took them 50 tries. Back then even the deadhead rappers from Duval took some pride in their work

If you remember the Lil Wayne Carter Documentary where he got a mic from his luggage and starting recording. He spit 2 bars and said cut!!

What Wayne is doing is called "comping".

He's not using that run for an actual song. The acoustics in that room are trash. No amount of engineering or mixing can fix that. But if he can get the idea down in mad takes, he can record roughs and then put it all together later when he's in the actual studio. He's just getting the idea out in that video.
