His first video was nothing but Miley Cyrus, of course they spent more pushing Sean

Thats what I felt like, I felt like sean was marketed as the POP rapper mainly directed at teens. Its so surprise all the kids dress like sean.

Even though pusha is marketed as a street/hood rapper he is gets all the hipster cred from places like fader and pitchfork.

So you think def jam is happy with these numbers and excited to give him a budget for a following album?

Be honest with yourself. If you don't satisfy your label you flopped!!!
I don't think Def Jam signs someone doing 30k and hope that they'll magically sell 5 times more, 16 years after their debut.
Or even hope that he'll sell more than some of their flagship artists like Big Sean and 2 Chainz, when you put out a singles like King Push and Numbers on the board.

Def Jam signed him cause Kanye said he wanted to sign him, I doubt they would've signed him in 2010 without Kanye.

Most features on the album were labelmates at Def Jam... Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, The Dream, Big Sean, Kanye West, 2 Chainz so I'm sure his budget wasn't huge.

He did good numbers without 1 single on radio.

2 Chainz has been mentioned right in line with Sean by plenty of dudes in this thread...

Did they though? Based on what exactly? Because it's the narrative you would most want to be true? :pachaha: I blame Wacky D for this "i'll just randomly pretend like I'm privy to rap album promotion budgets in vivid detail based on nothing and for no other reason than to make up imaginary points vis a vis rap sales" stuff on here...best i can tell they both got damn near the identical amount of promotion..only difference being that Sean's singles actually flopped less than Pusha's...there's this weird nonsensical messegeboard logic where people act like if two projects sell similar numbers of albums, but one has more successful singles than the other...the one WITH the successful singles is a bigger failure...as if single sales and airplay aren't an ADDITIONAL source of profit, but instead somehow a cost

What we have here is maybe the perfect example of how perception can be altered by meaningless stuff...
:wow: but they dont hear you tho

i guarantee def jam wasn't expecting much from Pusha from the jump though, he never moved big numbers so for him this is a win

Flop. Just cuz he a fan favorite miss me with the not bad shyt.
80k on a major label while being pushed by Kanye is a flop.
Did you not see all the a list features on his album?
This nikka is never releasing another album. If meek is struggling to get another release date. This nikka has no chance after this.
Prolly as good as he could hope for...he's pretty much gonna put up identical numbers as Big Sean in the same exact building/system, but he'll get a parade thrown for him like it's a stunning success while Sean is still getting flogged to this day:pachaha:

....the power of lowered expectations and being an internet good guy :wow:

y'all must be joking right??? first off, your deal determines your flop. so while we ALL don't have the details of pusha's deal to say he WON... you also can't say he FLOPPED

what if it came out that the label only spent 50k on this whole album.. and made that all back the first week?? you don't think they'd do it again. what if it came out that they spent 20 mil on drake's album, and he'll never get it back?? think they'd do it again

your sales are relative to your budget. and if you think for one second, that def jam thought pusha t, with no radio singles, was gonna push 150-200k, you're fukking smoking something..

why you think ross keeps getting to drop even tho he's NEVER gone plat and has ONE gold album??? cause they never expect him to do huge numbers in the first place.. as long as you recoup that money back, you good. the problem with meek is after i'm a boss and house party, they gave him this huge ass budget and he never got it back... now you done..

it's called measuring expectations.. no business in the world would give every single product the same budget
