The Miles Davis album got weak reviews when it came out, like most of Miles' later fusion albums, but in hindsight it would be hard to deny the impact/legacy of it. The rapping on it sounds dated and lackluster but the mixture of live instrumentation and traditional rap production still sounds relevant today.

He has just never been out in the forefront like that for me. I've never matched the person to the music, even though I've randomly heard the name and definitely know the tracks..just a disconnect.

I know of Prince Paul, not super hip, but he actually put out multiple solo albums as a rapper too....different.
