Put me onto baseball

I know just about nothing about it. I only like their fitteds, Ill go out and buy one just cause I like it without knowing who/what the team is. I don't even know what team I'd root for (probably orioles since I like their colors and have 2 fitteds from them)

Long story short, break down this sport to me, when do the seasons start, how many games to a season, orioles a cool team? I don't know shyt about baseball

1. Go to games and try the ballpark food.
I'm a fan, but baseball is pretty mediocre on TV, but fun in person. You have the organ players; hecklers, beach balls, and other stadium traditions that make a trip to the ballpark a worthwhile experience. Most stadiums these days have some type of standout food, so why not dine on said food.

2. If you're trying to understand baseball, pick up MLB the Show.
Video games are great at learning new sports. I knew nothing about Futbol til I played FIFA, and I've been casual fan of the sport ever since.

Season starts in May and ends in October. There are 162 games in a season. Each team gets 9 chances to bat, with three outs each time. These are called innings; once all nine innings are passed the game is over.

The Coli isn't really a baseball board though from what I've seen. If you're really interested in learning the history of the game, watch Baseball by Ken Burns. It's long but very interesting and considered a seminal part of baseball lore.

What about teams? Whose y'all favorite teams? I live in Texas but never been a homer. I'm from Cleveland but like I said, never a homer... Indians a cool mascot tho

Breh, I worked for MLB and I still couldn't get into it. Fun job though.

I'll say this, being at a game is way better than watching on TV.

Know the rivals. It's not the hardest sport to get into from a casual perspective. Definitely go out to a game to get a feel for it because you'll likely be near hardcore fans who will school you on it.


And watch the GOAT sports movie: The Sandlot.

Being as objective as possible ( it's my hometown team, so... ), they're aight. Coming off the AL East crown and a spot in the ALCS. Generally have a winning history - 3 'ships, although the last was in '83 , several players in the Hall. Got a couple stars/personalities in Adam Jones and Manny Machado. Chris Davis was hot for a minute. Have one of the best managers in the game in Buck Showalter. They're cool enough to me.

Also, they won't have ESPN slobbering over them like the Yank$/$ox/Dodger$/Cubs et al, but real fans/media definitely respect 'em.

Cosigning @Drones re: Baseball by Ken Burns. Even after two decades it really holds up well.
