Sup brehs,
I'm looking into buying a used car. Despite working for a very high profile car company, I know nothing about car buying or cars in general. I drive a motorcycle but dealing with the elements and crazy drivers can be a bytch. That being said, I prefer to ride in style. I've put off buying a car because I'd want it to be relatively nice but I don't want to pay too much for it. I'm looking into getting something sub $5000. Luckily, I can purchase trade-ins through my job.

As far as the type of car I'm looking for, I would like an older Beamer (3.0CS, older M5s, Cis, etc) if it isn't too much to maintain. Anyone have any recommendation for older cars that aren't going to be a pain to maintain and under $5gs? Besides that, I like the Preludes and older acuras.

Put me on and shoot me some recommendations/ personal favorites

Word? I see some preludes for under 5gs and I've thought those were fairly sharp for what they were. Sporty and slightly eye catching. I saw some beamers on craigslist but most of them need work.

Nothing in the 90s that might be a decent price and good looking? I just want something that'll stick out in a fairly nice way. At my job, we buy them at blue book value, at the most so I figured if it's old then the value might depreciate a little bit.

Maintenance on older cars is a crap shoot. You don't know what was repaired and what needs repair and what will need repair when you buy a used car. You could get lucky and just have to do regular maintenance. Or you could end up with a car, that even though it is quality, you will have to replace worn out parts just due to age and wear. Replacement parts for BMWs can get expensive. Maintenance parts for BMWs can get expensive, in comparison to domestic car parts.
Maybe you talk to co workers at the company you work for.

You should try and stay away from German Auto for the time being. You might get lucky and find something nice for your price range but how long will that luck continue ?

I'd just go get an older Acura TL or something.

It doesn't necessarily need to be german but I'm just talking about cars that look good. Do ya'll actually find old honda accords and civics attractive? My fam had both and I always thought they were :scusthov: Again, I'm partial to Preludes. Overall, I know hondas are great cars but I'm mainly talking from a looks point of view. Something that may not retain its value after 10+ years and looks dope. If there's nothing out there, then that's fine. I'm trying to get an idea of what I could potentially be looking for.

I'll keep it 100 with you for under $5K you'll be hard pressed to find some "attractive" based on the suggestions you turned down. UNLESS you get a steal and find a car in great condition. That'll take a few weeks of searching or utilizing somebody with a dealer's license to go to an auction and get something.

The last few vehicles my dad has purchased were from Craigslist, all clean, good running condition and under $10K, he's a pro at coming up on stuff like that. What part of the country are you in? Take a 15-20 minute drive outside the suburbs into rural areas and you might stumble upon some gems.
