This is one group I know very little about. I've seen interviews with Prince Paul and Daddy O here and there. Also, they had some classic line about jazz when elders were hating on hip hop for jazz, but I cant remember what it was.

Had a spark when they started and quickly became garbage? Which of their songs has held up the most? What did they bring to the game that no one had ever seen?

Google is your friend. Prince Paul is one of the top 10 greatest producers of all time. Went on to do great albums for de la soul and produced the greatest concept album of all time(it's not up for debate). It's the type of album that you must listen to from start to finish because it's a movie.

Those two songs especially "go stetsa" because that's where people got the "go brooklyn" sample from.

3 Feet High? Yeah. Great album. One of my favorite 80s albums next to Slick Rick's and Rakim's, which is kinda funny considering I'm not really into De La like that.

they were like an early version of The Roots....i was watching boxing a couple years ago, and the dj randomly played "all that jazz"...still holds up.....

also Daddy-O was tight w/ Biggie & put out some of his unreleased material last year

no, not the de la soul album, Prince AMONG THIEVES. That's the best concept album of all time. because it's a movie. Every song picks up where the last left off and it's an actual movie with characters.
