They got caught in the shuffle once DMX etc got big again. I think Dirty 30 dropped in 97 and didn't do well because of the way hip hop was going at the time. Then by the time they would have released a second album they weren't relevant because of other acts blowing up.

their ok, yogi (i believe was his name) had some nice beats though
those cats were from the bronx and used to go by the name "rhythm blunt cru" but after lyor and them at def jam got ahold of them, they cut it down to just CRU in order to make them more marketable,which didn't matter since they weren't marketable in the first place. 
imagine trying to market a facetious, more rugged ATCQ-type of rap group at the peak of the jiggy era.
they got placement on foxy brown's album intro which was like a "coming soon on def jam records" infomercial for def jam's upcoming releases. that guitar lick though on "just another case" is undeniable. i still rock that shyt to this day. that joint and "pronto" got them alotta mixtape love in '97.
i always considered their lp underrated, with maybe a few too many skits and some ambitious left field tracks but still dope to me. that shyt was my theme music when it dropped that summer along with The War Report, Stone Crazy, Ghetto Millionaire and Jewelz.
Bluntz & Bakakeemi's, Just Another Case, Nuthin' But, The Ebonic Plague, Bubblin', Armaggedon, Live At The Tunnel, and Fresh Wild & Bold are all bangers.
anyways, they consisted of 3 members, yogi, chadio and the mighty ha.
yogi was the star of crew with his q-tip-esque voice and the dope beats he laced the lp with. he later became one of puffy's hitmen
after CRU was dropped around '99 and produced g-dep's "let's get it" amongst others. i think he still produces but i ain't heard his name in a minute.
chadio was the non-description sidekick, duke was average IMO.
mighty ha was pretty much an ODB ripoff, with the loud and crazy flow which broke into singing sometimes just like ol dirty, except he was wasn't really that ill. he was in and out of prison alot, which is why he was missing on alotta Da Dirty 30. i remember him signing with Matador records in the early 2000's but he never dropped anything last i heard he was in and out of prison.
i know they were working on their 2nd lp and had ads in the source for it back in '99 but after being on the violator compilation, that was the last i heard of them, then they were dropped.
check this joint, that was originally the intro to Da Dirty 30, before they realized there was no way they could clear on all those samples. shyt is dope and was on the promo version reviewed by the source.

I have his actual cd. It's very good. The lox r on here too. Yogi is a very underrated producer.
yeah, it skips on every album.
i think they did that to fukk with the listeners and labelled it "Dirty 29" since we all know how cd's used to skip if they were dirty or scratched.
those dudes had a fukked up sense of humor and i liked it, although it didn't do them any favors sales-wise, at least they put out an album on their own terms, minus their name change. and word to them having a relativity unknown black rob on there too. duke killed it on "nuthin' but"
