After the fall of Aleppo the rebels have been militarily defeated and defanged. They spend more time fighting each other than Assad. Russia along with Iran was a two piece combo the rebels could not defeat. Russia with the airpower while Iran provided the Shia ground power. Those two combined proved too much for the rebels. You can't win a war based on airpower alone. You need ground support. Russia's intervention in Syria was a sucess.
