I think if he would have screwed up if he got that greedy. But I agree.

I miss Yeltsin 88m3

I suppose my point is that he has so many proxies and so much money it's essentially all his. Putin imprisons and kills anyone else his in way.

Yeltsin wasn't a fan of Putin near the end.

Pretty true. But isn't this what happens when your country falls off. Russia was a mess in the late 90s. They were looking foolish and russians were embarrassed. Yeltsin allowed him too much power, this started in 2000.

Russia could have become a prominent and proactive member of the international community and had the money for investment in their own country and they blew it. Russia let their out of date foreign policy goals lead guide the conversation and inevitably off a cliff. I honestly don't know what will happen down the road but I feel like the world will be on a razors edge dealing with situation for sometime to come. It's very unfortunate for everyone. Things have gotten so bad that human rights organizations are asking for veto power to be gotten rid of at the UN security council because of Russia's liberal use of it. Whether that happens at the UN or not who knows but we're a long time coming with a lot of the current fallout that we're seeing between the West and Russia.

It's so annoying to me. There were going throw pains like all the former soviet satellites and countries and Putin decided Russia needed to be a superpower even with their poverty problem. Russia is becoming a banana republic. The thing that kills me is they need to be at the table if we are to defeat islamic extremeism. I wonder why they didn't join NATO after that attempted coup the early 1990s.
