Q Tip Appreciation - Top 15 Producer?

Whenever people talk about Top Producers u hear, Premo, Rza, Dre, even Quik, Alchemist, Havok, Dilla, and others. I rarely hear Tip's name though. I'm not saying he's the GOAT or nothing like that. But he should be mentioned more often as a great producer.


Aside from some of the Tribe gems...he's done.

I asked this question before in the dre vs tip vs premo thread but never got an answer.

When you have production teams like tribe, how do you know what their contributions to the songs were unless they explicitly tell you? Just curious.

The songs in op are tip's joints...but I'm specifically talking about group material(which was being factored into the dre vs tip vs premo thread)

Qtip early tribe shyt is top 5 hands down.. Dont know if his body of work is deep as some of the most mentioned... But, he in my personal fav top 3 hip hop producers

Easily. Tribe's entire discography is fire. He gets props for the Infamous too

The only reason he isn't already mentioned amongst the GOATS is because he waited so long to claim his production credits. Easily top 5 off Tribe alone IMO.

It is hard to know what he discord Tribe vs. Ali. But as time passes it seems more and more like he did the lion share of work. Especially when you hear the behind the scenes of their documentary and look at how many people still reach out to him for production. And let's not forget wit he did as part of the Ummah. And he's a damn good DJ.
