Iggy is the modern day female version of Vanilla Ice. This isn't anything brand new, it's just we are now in the day and age where people, artists included, can use social media to directly put thier message or voice out. So people everywhere are witnessing some trues that they either didn't want to know about or completely unaware. And what Q-tip spoke was the TRUTH, if you going to be part of the hip hop culture, you at LEAST need to respect it by knowing and acknowledging its history and as to why people are so PROTECTIVE of that legacy as well as why it's being "smudged" as Azealia Banks so properly phrased it.
The MAIN reason I never had love for Iggy is because she's a blatant culture vulture without any fuccks about hip hop culture. And the problem is that the MEDIA ushered up as the FACE of hip hop and continuously trying to program and condition people into this falsehood. Iggy only got ONE hit album. She is a one-hit wonder that got an album that flopped, yet kept on being push forward as the "queen of hip hop" and have covers of her and Macklemore are representatives or the culture and THAT'S what is insulting. And with Macklemore, at the very LEAST he acknowledges the bullshyt, but Iggy refuses to at least acknowledge the fact she's being used in mockery and allowed all of it to go to her head. Hence why Q-tip, in a respectful way, schooling her the importance of this culture.
It's sickening to even think that Iggy may very well WIN a grammy for "best rap album" as J. Cole predicted, and we still going to be up here trying to come up with excuses for that bullshyt.
