The thing is, people don't understand the Technical Skill these boys have. You are not a true student of hip hop if you do not acknowledge that. These boys lyrically are delivering Early 2000 Harlem/Dipset quality bars as in their go for punch lines and mix that with a very technical rap style. As they mature they tweak their style to make it even harder to bite. If you listen to YRN tape they laid the blueprint to the flow (which is inspired by the likes of Memphis rappers) but if you compare the YRN tape to this tape they made the flow much more technical as they are using crazy cadences AND sped up the flow. You a damn fool if you say these boys can't rap. They aren't story tellers, they simply give you technical flows and punchlines, THAT IS HIP HOP.

Rap fans have always been bad about basing our opinions of rappers off the first impression....so i see that as nature of the game....but these all knowing backpackers should be above that....at least with the coli most of the people here stay informed enuff to hate knowledgeably....even if they go skim through sum shyt just so they can hate on it and give referances..

And one way you can tell these boys aren't dumb (they lack formal education sure), but some of their punch lines and sports references, while elementary in delivery are extremely clever. And these boys are HUNGRY, compare what they are doing and then look at artist like Keef, Trinidad James, Bobby Shumurda, etc. These boys are independent and you wouldn't even know.

The backpacker movement used to be about street music though it was co-opted in the late 90's by loosers and nerd rap fanatics including purists. It makes me sad that they are what people think of now when they hear backpacker. I hated seeing kids with empty packs on they back fronting at shows.
