They hate each other on certain issues, but they're trapped in the same social circle and rationalize ways to forgive the mistakes of one another, not matter how egregious. Across all professions - from politics, to academics, to writing - the goal is to not get disinvited from the cocktail parties. So even the clear insults come with qualifiers.

real talk though, you rarely ever gonna agree with everything your friends do. i got friends who i grew up with and are like brothers, if they ever need a place to stay they can crash at my crib with me and my family, but there are some things they do that i am 100% against. it dont mean i hate them, but i hate those things they do.
