from the promo CDr

FLAC: 2004 - Q Tip - Open (Promo CDr).7z

The CD has large gaps between tracks and a couple fade in and outs were uneven in volume so that was fixed. I also replaced the Believe track with a better quality copy I had which was the exact same mix and master. All tracks are lossy, contained in FLAC so as to not lose any quality

You think it would've hit if it was released in 04?

I remember banging this religiously in the car back in the day - I think it was labelled as 'Kamaal The Abstract', back then,, but I've heard joints off this - Definitely at the very least Johnny's Dead and the 3K collab - years ago

The fact that this has songs that made it onto The Renaissance, which dropped 4 years later shows how ahead of his time Q-Tip is. He made Amplified, Open/Renaissance & Kamaal The Abstract in a 4-5 year period...thatโ€™s elite creativity :wow:

I always preferred the original โ€œJohnny Diedโ€ to what he put on Renaissance. He should have kept that chorus and put Phil Collins on it
