I have no problem with selling your company and getting out the game, or using the sale to finance a new play. Black people should be able to sell an asset like anyone else can. And as others have pointed out, QC may be heading for a downturn. Migos are finished, their female artists haven't popped, and Baby didn't take the next step with his last album. That's not to say it's game over. Baby is still hot can always hit back harder with a better album. And maybe they were gonna hit on a female rapper soon. Who knows. Things could be down for now with an up tick coming.

Here's my problem: Scooter Braun is a fukking snake. I get this is a deal with a Korean company but Braun is running the play. This is a guy who famously fukked over Taylor Swift and has been a negative influence on Justin Bieber. He's also generally just a piece of shyt. Trust me. If there was one person in the industry who I wouldn't want ANY part of a deal I was involved in, it would be this dude. Just a few months ago QC was in talks with Warner for a sale, which I would have supported.

I figured because QC has been on a huge slump since My Turn.

  • Lil Baby's album was supposed to be his Vol. 2 breakout album with all the promo but it slick flopped closer to 2 Legit 2 Quit
  • Migos broke up and the duo album wasn't making any noise before the Takeoff tragedy.
  • City Girls 2nd album leaked and completely flopped. Does JT even rap anymore lol?
  • Duke Deuce tries but can't catch a hit. Doesn't help that Offset is who he's signed thru to QC
  • None of the female acts caught on (Lakeyah, Layton Greene
  • They signed Gloss Up but dropped her album out the blue last week with no promo in the worst time to drop a album
  • Bankroll Freddie couldn't catch a hit and then got locked up
  • Icewear Vezzo too old and Baby Money hasn't stood out yet
They went from the best developmental label to not even being mentioned. They just rode Lil Baby once he got hot and apparently were more focused on this sale (rumors of a sale been out the last few months).
Lil Baby not taking that next leap sealed their fate. That last album doesn’t even get spoke about. Not even in a trolling way or slander. The shyt was terrible. I honestly can’t see him rebounding from that.

All of these millionares in this "black excellence" club couldn't come together and purchase that shyt? I'd rather Kevin Hart and Dwayne the Rock Johnson buy that shyt than some CAC name Scooter:snoop:

Purchase it for what though?

You have to know what your doing when you spend 300 million on something or at least have an idea

I was going to make a thread on how it feels like no labels puts resources behind their artist like QC. They have done everything to get their artist to take off

They did up until 2020. Once JT got out of prison they didn't capitalize on it and they quit doing documentaries for their new artists like they did Lil Baby & City Girls.

Gloss Up dropped a album 3 weeks ago out of nowhere and she only did Sway In The Morning and Hot 97.

You can't even tell what the singles are supposed to be because they don't push and service them to DJs like they used to.

Akademiks gives his thoughts on the deal. Interestingly, he also mentioned that scooter tried to buy a part of his company.

Bunch of armchair executives in here acting like they know what good business is…

“Bu bu but…Why couldn’t Kevin Hart and The Rock and Smokey Robinson come together to buy QC?!?”

What the fukk do Kevin Hart and The Rock know about music?!?! They’re ACTORS who have never in their careers recorded music. That makes no sense whatsoever.

Of course it would be great to keep it all black. It would be PHENOMENAL. But this is the MUSIC BUSINESS. How many examples do we need that shyt is corrupt and never has been nor ever will BE set up in the favor of black people. We CREATED Hip Hop and almost from day 2 white people have co-opted and taken it over from a business perspective. If you’re going to sell then 9/10 your selling to some white company, which means when you decide to get into the MUSIC BUSINESS you’re dealing with them. And in business i’d certainly rather see two black men getting rich than more black men going poor.

Big Bank take little bank.

Powerful white guy for the win:francis:

I honestly had to research Scooters wealth maybe a month ago. He has too much money to be just a manager. But he had investments that popped off.

5 years is usually the maximum time a label gets before a revamp needs to occur...

Drake's and Lil Wayne career arcs are things that don't occur often...

Migos and the rest of them had their time and for some "moments" and it's a wrap after that...

Lil Baby exhausted his name and needs to go chill for a bit
