How is it too much money when he's going to make it on the backend? He's young enough that locking himself into a 5 year deal makes no difference from doing a 4 year one, he's going to get another max after :yeshrug:
Look at it this way. If he was to sign a one year qualifying offer he might get 6 mill for that one season. Then he'd be a free agent and could get a 4 year max offer on the market. If he was to sign the 5 year max extension with New Orleans he'd get upwards of 120 million. No agent in the country would allow him to do that. That's 2 years of at least 20 million dollars a season so in actuality he'd be walking away from roughly 34 million dollars just to get out of New Orleans. No way Jose.

Not sure, all they had to do was tank his first two years and they'd have more talent than they do now. Hell, the Magic would probably be a title contender with him this year :russ:

He's too good for them to get a top 10 pick now and his teammates are just :ld: , it's the same thing that happened to LeBron & KG.
Eric Gordon - 5-18

He'd be able to start a new max earlier :yeshrug:

Also, you're looking past the fact that Pelicans are going to try to lock him into a deal under the old TV deal, there's literally no way he signs an extension this summer and will have to go the QO route either way. No agent is going to allow him to lock himself into the older deal when the new one starts next year.
