Like I said, none were offered the max. Lee said he would've taken less to stay in NY but they wanted Amare. No one has ever walked away from a max deal after their rookie contract. No agent would suggest it and they'd talk a player out of it if he wanted to. It doesn't matter how shytty the city is. No one walks away from that bird rights max bread. No one.
That's not what you asked and you admitted as such. I answered your original question.

Games like this are how superstars end up leaving, how you have 36/13/9/7 losing is on your teammates.
It's one of the strangest teams I've seen in a minute man

Dude literally has 3 shooting guards starting and another "PG" who comes off the bench and can barely connect on 40% of his shots this season.

I'd dump all of them and just keep Tyreke on the squad

He'd be able to start a new max earlier :yeshrug:

Also, you're looking past the fact that Pelicans are going to try to lock him into a deal under the old TV deal, there's literally no way he signs an extension this summer and will have to go the QO route either way. No agent is going to allow him to lock himself into the older deal when the new one starts next year.
There's no guarantee he'd get another max which is why his agent would tell him to grab the for sure money. There's a reason why no player has ever done it before fam. Even if they hated the city they still took that max extension.

He wouldn't need to. It's year 3 for him. Year 4 he'd just re-up when it came time. He wouldn't have to accept a QO.

He's due for his extension this summer and has until November to sign it, as his agent, are you going to tell him to sign an extension?

Keep in mind, the cap will jump by around $25 million next summer, of which AD would get 25%. If he signs the extension before the new TV deal he's losing money.
