I'm a La Flame stan but I feel my disiniterest in Quavo would even my ear out on this and I haven't loved everything Scott's done lately, tbh.
So being as objective as can be...I just feel like yall expected too much from this project...Travis has been "dumbing down" his music post-"Birds" and Quavo is Quavo.
This was never gonna be any more than high-level vibe music. And that's exactly what Huncho Jack is.
"Modern Slavery" is soulful AS FUKK. "Black and Chinese" is prime stripper music. The "Huncho Jack" - "Saint Laurent Mask" run is the strongest portion of the album, imo. The only tracks I shrug at are eye 2 eye and best man. Those aren't bad tracks either, they just didn't catch me.
A legit 4/5 album, in my mind. And they only had 2 features. They held this album down nicely. I'm not gonna lie and say there's a "Oh my dis side" on this album but there's a bunch of "sloppy toppy"/"Portland" level songs on here.
And yall were talking about how subpar "WW" and "SS" were when they dropped but now yall acting like those are the gold standard. lol.
I can't wait until the next tandem album drops so yall can finally give this album the praise it deserves.
