I agree it is a big deal, it's fraudulent, and he shouldn't need writers at all. I do think they're downplaying this, just like Quentin did when he said he "collaborated" with Drake on some songs (collaboration = Drake listening through a Quentin Miller playlist and picking and choosing his favorite lines ). I just think it's funny how people acting like Drake never writes anything based on what we've heard.

You guys reference tracks are used when rappers don't know how to rap the lyrics someone else wrote for them. If he was just collaborating there would be ZERO reference tracks. If there are reference tracks they are for entire verses and hooks, not just a 'few' lines.

Because you know damn well those measly writer's credits didn't imply the level of help Drake was getting.

When you saw Q.Miller in those album notes, you did not know that he went as far as recording scratch vocals for this nikka.

Or writing who knows how many of Drake's actual bars.

Even giving QM "credit" doesn't absolve Drake of being fraudulent.

and llike I said, in this era, ppl download illegally or from Google/Itunes etc and often don't get album linear notes.

So masses of people aren't opening a phyiscal album and reading the credits while they listen. They dont know who's writing and eventually don't care

shyt like this ins't that surprising especially with the amount of material Drake puts out. It's hard and damn near impossible to stay fresh and be able to revitalize like he was without some assistance. He didn't even have an album out last year and he still was all over the charts: Trophies, 0-100, Believe Me and other features

Imo- He'll maintain his fan base since a God portion of them are young and or culture vultures, so they only care if a package looks pretty on the outside. This add generation doesn't appreciate substance and depth. Not saying meek is at all, but drake will always lack authenticity. That's the L that drake will be secretly seething over the rest of his rap career. His pen will ALWAYS be in question from this day forward. He'll never have respect as a real MC, no matter how much his machine tries to spin it.

What's really disgusting is that dude needed a reference track for a feature. Like damn b you can't create a hot 16 without help?

There's no need to give him "the benefit of the doubt," we've heard what Quentin did on those tracks. You can either assume he wrote the rest, or assume he gave Quentin Miller credit for what he wrote and had a ghostwriter do the rest, which we can prolly agree sounds unlikely (why even give Quentin credit at all if someone else wrote the rest?)

Drake doesn't write all his own shyt, and people will definitely be checking his album credits more closely now to find out who's helping him.
