Marvin Gaye sung plethora of songs not written by him and Stevie Wonder had co-writers. R. kelly I am not concrete on.

Brah, I'm not
Saying these dudes wrote and or produced every song in their catalogue. I'm talking about the ones credited to them.

I know Motown swapped songs all the time and Marvin sang Frank Sinatra stuff etc.

Man if you don't get out of here with this bullshyt. :camby:

"fukking around" in the studio ain't the same as a reference track. It's not the same as the guy you're writing for singing, and you're giving him the melodies.

Nobody in the game who is supposedly the best has ever needed this level of help. As I've pointed out literally 20x, this is some Lil Kim, Eazy-E shyt. There wasn't no fukking Sparks feeding Jay-Z reference tracks with built in hooks and shyt. C'mon son. You gotta try this with people that don't actually know their history.

Fred.

This the twilight zone right now my dude.

It's disgusting. Especially the cornballs taking a faux-elitist stance of "you guys must not know how the music industry works"

As if Rihanna not writing her own shyt and Lupe Fiasco not writing his own shyt are the same thing.

This is hip hop you clowns. It's the music of an oppressed people expressed from the heart and soul through the pen. The same rules never applied to hip hop. Let's not play naive just because "Best I Ever Had" got you through a tough break up.

I can never look at some of y'all seriously again when it comes to hip hop discussions. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.
we on a hip hop message board. this shyt is disturbing.

"fukking around" means going in the booth to record whatever comes to mind. This is how a couple of hooks were referenced for The Dynasty album. Everyone knows that Sparks wrote the "Give It To Me" hook and wasn't credited for it initially. He was complaining about it for years.

This is history. If you've been around, you know this has been going on forever. Chuck D wrote hooks for Cube on Amerikkka's Most Wanted. Cube was easily one of the best then. Some of those tracks were for Sons of Bazerk originally. This isn't about my opinion. This is facts. Dudes have always done this. Nothing new.

This the twilight zone right now my dude.

I love it how cats try to shift what's going on.

We got multiple reference tracks. People come in the thread talking about "bu bu but everyone needs help, since the 80's breh!"

Then you press them for examples and they're talking about "tossing around ideas in the studio". :what:

The two are apples and oranges. I will not let these fools confuse the issue. :stopitslime:

Y'all should know better. The industry isn't real, it's almost like wrestling at that level. :sas2:

Let's not pretending Drake - for better or for worse - isn't seen as a top emcee and a peer to other talented rappers like Cole, Kendrick and Wale breh.

He's not a pop star. He's a rapper who is very popular. The rules should still apply to him.
