So was The Wire and a lot of the key cast members weren't American.

It's acting. You just need to act the part not be the part. Half the time the audience doesn't even know the person in the role is a Brit because they're believable in character.

@BlackMajik with the receipts

Idris Elba doesn't seem to agree with this take himself:jbhmm:

Reminds me of Denzel catching some accent heat in

I understand that completely but that’s not going to fly with a film purist like QT.

He’s the one directing the damn thing and as a masterful as he is as it, I’m sure he knows what he wants to get out of his actors.

He doesn’t want even a touch of a British accent present. When I go back and watch the Wire, there’s CLEAR scenes where you can hear Edris accent. It’s very subtle but definitely there. That wouldn’t work for someone like QT.

Jamie Foxx is from rural ass Texas. I think QT made the right pick here

Didn't it come out that Idris has ADOS ancestry on his dads side or something? I remember reading it here a while back.

I've always said one of the weirdest and funniest things ever in cinema is in movies about Ancient Rome you have these people portraying Romans while using a British Accent :russ:

Like if you understand history you know how dumb that is lol
Yeah honestly Hollywood is to blame for putting Britain on a pedestal. I appreciate him mentioning Michael Caine etc cause if you listen to folks on here and elsewhere it only happens to Black Americans

Sidenote you remember Four Brothers that one British Black Actor who played the drug Lord was AWFUL

He was suppose to convince me with that acting he's a Detroit dope boy :mjlol:
Accent=OFF
Mannerisms=OFF

If I was in Detroit and this nikka was in a room with me and anything illegal was finna go on I'd leave immediately cause I'd think he was a cop
