Check is usually sent directly to the lienholder after the insurance payout.

The GAP company likes to short you for depreciation and random bullshyt.

Never seen GAP go to the buyer.

Iono about no gap insurance actually never even heard of it.
But this ol head a lady friend of mine mess with sumbody hit them n fuccd up the front end at 1st insurance said they wasn't gone pay cuz he didn't pay the last months insurance but a month later he got a check in the mail for $5k mf ain't even repaired the truck n still driving it around n the person who hit him didn't have insurance

It's prob another case of somebody not reading what gap actually covers in the terms and then they prob got bad credit and interest rate through the roof making the cost of the car ridiculous outside of the current market value.

Put in a gap claim and Gap was like oh hell no we ain't paying for all this extra shyt cuz you signed a bad loan deal
