I bought a Carbon 15 when I was 18
Whats good brehs Imma start off by saying I dont know shyt about college or the corporate world and Imma be startin college next year.

Yea im still in highschool :shaq:

And I wanna be an accountant but I wanna use accounting as basically a way for me to just start out at a certain company then work my way up to a higher position within the company.

Would it be a good idea to Major in Accounting and minor in Business Administration or would it better if I do it vice versa and major in Business Admin. and minor in Accounting since I want to move on from accounting once I get the job to become a higher up in the company?

I say Major in Accounting.....the more specialized the better.....Business Admin is kind of a general major.

But what I'm worried about is the scarcity of jobs these days. Wouldn't being more specialized limit my options, especially for a dude straight outta college?

This shyt is difficult breh how do yall grown-ups deal with this :sadcam:

Whaddup Thuglife..

I'm actually an accountant. You will never have a real shortage of jobs in my field. Remember no matter if starting or ending a business you need accountants.

Hell you need accountants in almost every aspect of business. I would advise that if you want to move up in the future. Major in Accounting and minor in management. Also get your CPA after college. It may not help you directly but having a CPA license is a resume builder and offers you room for salary negotiations.

Also if you feel it in your spirit (and future debt) consider getting a masters in Finance on top of your accounting degree. You will open yourself up to MAJOR career opportunities. Particularly with VP positions or becoming Corporate Controller.

Just my two cents.

BTW finish school!!!! You will be winning at life

Major in accounting if you can't get into a Top 20 school, and pick up a minor in something computer/technology related. I'd also focus on gaining fluency in a 2nd language, if you haven't got one already.

Also, start networking and meeting up with career services as soon as possible. You want to get an internship your summer after freshman year, and the way the economy is going, you will have stiff competition. It's best to start as early as possible, because name-brand companies want interns to already have experience. Get an internship with a mom-pop/no-name company for your first internship and you'll have more leverage in interviews with Fortune 500 firms once you're an upperclassman.

Also, be sure to get leadership experience in clubs. Don't just merely attend, but take an active role and get an e-board position. Companies like seeing this on candidates' resumes.

accounting is probably one of the more stable fields though, and did okay even after the crash. if thats what you want to do, then do it. double major with finance.

Between those two, go for accounting and move to an MBA if you want in the future. A bachelors in BA is so general, you gonna have to put in OT to get a good job.

Other than that...you could pick engineering and ball on these nikkas
