we need to wake everyone up. life was not meant to be like this. you have been fed lies and brainwashed since you were born. the elite have put things in place to make you believe you go to school, collect debt, work your whole life and never overcome that debt, then you die... there is so much more to life than that. they want us to be debt slaves, who believe everything in mainstream media/education! wake up the sheeple!

I have a degree in business management. You are better off with an accounting degree. I had friends with accounting degrees and they were way better off than me after we all graduated. That was the biggest regret I had.

1. Like another guy said, get a CPA afterwards. That is key. Your upper-level courses go deeper into accounting-specific coursework than business management. Business management upper-level courses were a joke.
2. Get a high GPA. Don't party when it matters. Don't blow off classes whether it is a major or a non-major class. Everything helps your overall average.
3. Just because one guy doesn't go into accounting after graduating doesn't mean everyone goes through the same thing.
4. Try to get an internship/co-op during the summers with a corporation or accounting firm. You stick that on your resume.
5. Accounting degree with CPA doesn't mean you have to become an accountant. You can use your accounting knowledge in a field that requires it. An example is law enforcement. They have accounting investigators who audit the books of companies or individuals to look for weird movement of money, laundered money, any money not accounted for. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see one huge $5,000,000 difference between asset and liability, but little stuff hidden in obscure general ledger entries is what you look for. $10,000 a month in travel? Maybe a legitimate entry, maybe not.
6. This is not an "exciting" job but it can be satisfying for certain personalities.

Here we go. The "elite". The white haired men in Switzerland are controlling our every move. Such non-sense. This brotha doesn't have to go into debt. If his parents didn't save then cc should be his first step. That will keep costs significantly low. If he does well he can get a scholarship.

If not he can always do ROTC, which pays for college. Of course he'd have to join the military but as an Officer it's a sweet gig. :jawalrus:

Do his initial contract, get out before 30 with significant life experiences, knowledgeable about the field he is in and more importantly at least 100K in savings if he's smart about it.

welcome to the REAL WORLD youngin

college's are business' first and foremost.. remember that...

im not saying you wont/cant have a good career once you get you degree..because you can

but its not %100 guarnteed you will get a job in the field you studied..

degress are NOT automatic tickets for a career..

thats why these kids SCREAM about not being able to find a job they got a degree in AND THEY BLAME THE GOVT whoever etc etc... they feel that once they get that DEGREE they already got a career..

not that simple...

+ 70% of all HS graduates are enrolled in college... 70%

there simply isnt enough HIGH PAYING JOBS.. to support all these graduates

OP, if you plan on becoming a CPA, requirements have changed. If I'm not wrong, I think it takes effect in 2014. You need 150 hours (150 units in laymen terms) as one of the requirements. You basically have to do a masters program or an extension program.
