My car has been having the shakes. i took it for a lil check up at my korean guy, and he hooked me up with a free inspection. told me the problem is the sway bar bushings... the front end is getting old, and they need replacing... I found a few on amazon and it's not expensive. Should I also buy a new front end sway bar plus the bushings overall to get a smoother ride just to even it out. He said also if the problem keeps going i need to replace the shock/strut bar if the bushings aint the problem. anyone else deal with something similar, is it an expensive fix?

If youre getting a thicker bar for better stability yes but if not stick to the OEM sway bar as It doesn't need replacing unless somehow damaged or bent by undercarriage damage. However replacing the rubber bushings is vital because they wear over time & make the car feel sloppy.

I did the rear sway bar on my car went from the factory 19mm to a 22mm bar + polyurethane bushing... Best bang for the $ as far as suspension mods, drastically reduces body roll even w OEM strut/springs. about $180 total parts. The bushing alone you can find polyurethane(stiffer then rubber) for < $50

Yeah i figured as much I already put the bushings on my amazon wish list. But Maybe i can go by autozone tomorrow and pick up a few just to get this done now and possibly get a replacement sway bar later. I dont think the sway bar itself is damaged he just said the bushings. I actually thought it was the ball joints in the shocks and shyt the way it kept bumping...

Good thing is the parts are cheap... :heh:

What kind of shaking? When going over a bump, while driving on smooth roads, when in neutral or waiting at a stop light?
Sway bar only helps the struts of the car so it doesn't tilt to far while turning. Your mechanic is full of crap.
If you swaybar bushings are worn, you would experience a deeper tilt while turning. Not shaking.

Not necessarily. If the sway bar is disconnected it can have weird resonances. I agree that it would probably be better to look into the exact cause.

I just replaced all my brakes for an upgrade but also for a vibration. Turns out my tires were feathering and my alignment was off :snoop:

Your tires might be unbalanced.
Your front brake rotors might need to be turned down. If they aren't flat, they might be skipping against the pads and causing vibrational shaking.

Jack up the front wheels, don't unbolt the wheels. Just grab the tire and see if you can shake it. If it can be moved, then you will want to replace the tie rod. Not sure if its the inner or outer tie rod though. You can kind of tell if you can hear movement in the outer tie rod, then replace that. If you can't hear it but it can be moved, then replace the inner tie rod.

Let me cop and replace the bushings first and foremost. then if the problem continues ill get a second opinion for right now i dont have the money for alot of upgrades and things like that.

OK. Balancing tires is cheap, no need to get new ones.
Turning down rotors is cheap too. Cheaper if you remove them from your car and then bring the rotors to the brake shop.
Tie rods are cheap too. www.rockauto.com is where I get parts.
