No.3, I think this will help with national recruiting cause you'll get teams going out to places that they usually don't go to, so it could open up a potential pipeline for a school. Maybe Neutral site games would work if schools aren't trying to go play in another team's house. Big 10 could use some southern and west coast speed.
Really, there are only three major spots almost everyone goes to recruit universally. Texas, Florida, and California. The three best recruiting spots in the country. Its hwy there's no ounce of hesitation for an Oregon/LSU match up in Dallas. Or Mississippi St vs OK St in some bizarre game in Houston. Why play these games in Houston and Dallas? neutral sites don't do much unless you're fan base is good at traveling, and you're in a hot recruiting bed.

Schools want to be free to choose. If you're USC and having to play Illinois? What real incentive is there?

The Notre Dame ACC thing is different, because everyone wanted Notre Dame. They can reach a home and away schedule as they please. No every school carries that kind of clout. They are an exception, not the rule.

except that teams will be playing hard these games because the motivation is still to win the title or be in the playoffs.
won't have the excuses that you bring up and you won't say such & such had X amount of time to prepare because you'll both have the same amount and injuries which mysteriously are good for when programs in the same conference play each other but when playing OOC opponents and 95% healthy doesn't really mean shyt....:yeshrug: dem standards I suppose

I know, but I ain't trying to wait til the turn of the year to see that shyt and with the playoffs, nobody ain't gonna give a fukk about the Kraft Mac and Cheese Bowl pitting Big 10 No. 7 against Pac 10 No. 6, I just want top vs top matchups. At least this way, you're guaranteed to see teams face each other when they think that it's their year to win it all and they get a reality check and an ass whooping to go with it.
At some point you'll realize that this shyt is bigger than what joe customer wants :upsetfavre:

LOL is there a history of players or coaches hot dogging or not playing hard on new years day :heh:
not saying it's a history but I could name some recent teams that you could just tell didn't give a damn about being at w/e bowl game they were at (that wasn't a major one)

I know, this is just something I think would be cool as hell to see.

The main reason I brought it up and forgot to post in my OG post was that it'll kill the whole "who did you play" shyt that people like to bring up, if a team goes through their conference and beats 2 big teams from another conference or as @Jplaya2023 put it, you play one conference big boy one week and then a different conference's big boy program, then essentially you can knock out 2 different conference's power schools while boosting yourself and your conference up as a whole.

I feel you but most major programs actually did face another legit team in the first two weeks of the season. At least major GOING INTO THE SCHEDULING. Outside of osu and FSU idk who else can say they didn't try and get a legit team on the schedule. Even oregon took on Tennesee; its not their fault the program fell apart.

and there are 3 big ten sec games on new years day alone, multiple cross conference games across the nation that week.

You're getting what you want but you just don't want it when they give it to you. Thats on you fam, i'd rather have bowl week so the matchups are equal, the teams are established and you know what you're getting into.

Politics and the revenue involved is to much to cut through. If you knew what it takes just to schedule a neutral site game :bryan:

because your proposal is not advantageous to everyone.

College basketball can do this b/c there's 3x's as many games and one game wont make or break the season. In college football even a WIN can make or break ur season.

Why doesn't College Football have an Conference Showdown like College Basketball has? Everybody always talks about which conferences are the shyt, why don't they play it out on the field? Every year, 4 conferences would partake in it. For 2 weeks, have each conference battle it out for bragging rights.

Example Matchups:
Have Big 10/ACC
1. Michigan/Clemson
2. Ohio State/Florida State
3. Michigan State/Virginia Tech
4. Nebraska/Louisville
5. Penn State/Miami
6.Wisconsin/Notre Dame

Have Big 12/SEC
1. Baylor/Bama
2. Oklahoma/Auburn
3. Oklahoma State/South Carolina
4. Texas/LSU
5. West Virginia/Georgia
6.TCU/Missouri

Wouldn't match ups like these for the first 2 weeks of the season be better than some of the match ups we usually get during the early season? Thoughts?

You lose money doing this...But I would like to see more of this......
