To be fair i don't really like anime all that much, so i really haven't seen enough to judge. It was just weird seeing all these blonde hair blue eyed Swedish looking people running around in this Titan world. Also this Titan shyt got boring fast after the first couple episoodes. I grinded through most of 1st season because everybody spends too much time talking about their feelings and inner monologues and flashbacks and shyt lol.
I'm done with Anime for awhile after this Titan shyt let me down. But i think my cousin also mentioned this Baki joint, i might check it out in a couple years lol.

And i feel you, a lot of people think that at first but as you diversify your palet you will see it just depends on the context of the anime you’re watching.
AOT was dope in the beginning but faded on me with the next seasons. I have more issues with the Japanese's obsession with Highschoolers than I do about which race they're drawing

Anime/manga writers consciously design their characters with overseas popularity in mind.
The reason main characters have white features is to increase cross over appeal. In the case of Naruto, it was clearly a successful strategy.

Like someone else said describing them. I to am not a anime fan, but I like certain shyt(mainly the ones that showed up on toonami/AS)
but going off what I observed in my life, they dont seem to think of their characters as white.
which is crazy for them to say given the features, but tbf here in America the longest running animated TV show features people who are supposed to be white/European as being Yellow(Simpsons) so

But yes I have noticed how they definitely have an affinity for white looking features. Please do not buy into the "they are not supposed to be white" or the "they just draw them that way" or "they are supposed to be aliens" crowd. Bullshyt. They know the characters look white. East Asians in general favor blonde hair, blue eyes, double eyelids, round skulls and pale skin. You will also find that many Asians have an obsession with Germany for that very reason. If you travel to Korea or Japan, bleaching creams are everywhere. Do not fall for the bullshyt excuses anime obsessed brehs will try to feed you. Double eyelid surgery is popular over there for a reason. Skull reshaping surgery is popular over there for a reason. Nose surgery to make their noses look sharper is popular over there for a reason.
I love anime but that shyt is blatant as hell and if you are around Asians like I am (due to work) then you would already know they want to look white while still calling themselves Asian. Backwards shyt really. There is a reason so many of their women chase after white men and dream of having hapa children. Don't be fooled into thinking that this would not also affect their art. For any idiot that mentions DBZ as an attempt to downplay the white looking claims, please explain why Krillin and Chinese characters are drawn to look the way they do? You already know the answer. Hell a lot of Japanese consider themselves the "whites of Asia.' That should tell you all you need to know about this subject. They take pride in their culture, great pride, but not so much in their features.

obviously i get that its not real nikka i dont watch anime, i dont know who those characters are and i specifically said i didnt think that deep into it, it was a surface level observation from somebody who doesnt follow the art form but knows that the source material is asian and seeing a character with an asian name looking like a straight white boy was funny at first sight
Or you got Avdol from Jojo Part 3, Canary from Hunter X Hunter, Afro Samurai, Kilik from Soul Eatee, Butch from Ghost in the Shell, Michiko from Michiko, etc.
