Question for the Entrepreneurs

What was the turning point and/or age when you decided you wanted to go into business for yourself? For my dad who is 56, he said for him it was 28(says he wish he did it sooner).
I'm finishing up my degree in October. I'm 26. I've decided my direction in life is either going be Entertainment( Acting) or Entrepreneurship. For me I came to the conclusion that the latter would be my second option after a bad experience I had working at Target last summer. Plus every job I've ever had I've had issues, some my fault some not.

All I can say is that when you fukk up, at least it's you and not someone else to blame. And it might be less money to start, but at least you are in charge. The feeling of control is amazing.

Not everyone has the work ethic to be an entrepreneur though. In most cases you can't expect to have off-time when you're the one running the business and you're the one responsible for making sure EVERYONE has food on their table. There's more factors to consider about entrepreneurship than just not wanting to work for anyone else or having control over your life. For the first couple of years you're pretty much gonna have to eat, sleep, and shyt that business, and that's not even considering how many start of businesses fail within the first couple of years. Best of luck to all of you, but most people aren't built for that life

I wanted to run a record label at 14.

The older I got the more I realized that it would be more difficult then I thought (add to the fact that most local artists/producers are super fukkibg lazy and hella cheap)

A couple years ago me and my dad started a landscaping company. Although I don't make enough to support myself solely on whatvwe earn from landscaping, the feeling of being in control is second to none.

I plan on starting a clothing company within the next month or two. I'm thinking about operating out if Cincy.

Rule of thumb: (most) businesses operate in the red for the first two years (at least) do when you don't see profit up front don't be discouraged.

Also, be prepared to work dumb ass hours.

It depends honestly. I make good money (no coli certs ) but I work in a corporate environment. I've been working on starting several side businesses and my goal is to be 100% independent in a few years.

If you have a skill/passion then work it and turn it into a career. If you just know that you don't want to "work for someone else" look at small franchise opportunities and be your own boss.

A lot of people will tell you it's easy but it's not. It takes a lot of planning and forethought, money, time, support from family, etc.

When I decided to stop complaining about the jobs I was working and and hire myself. Every job had the childish highschool gossip and plantation scenarios. Doesn't matter how much sweat and dedication you offer to your job they'll just slave you more.

About 2 years ago...I graduated college about 4.5 years ago and got stuck in a retail job, I got treated like a nikka on the job...I've always wanted a business but I was shook...but eventually I manned up and did it. I feel happy for the first time, I feel free

I don't really know anyone out here or have a social life anyway. All my friends are either in Dallas or New York. So it's whatever....thanks though.

Working for cacs was the worse... I got promoted by some degenerate that didn't even work in my dept even tho I had a degree and did most the work. Our dept won awards with me and I brought skills that changed company policy. While making min wage

Lol of course that wasn't good enough for cacs...lol when I quit my fakkit manager had the nerve to say "you're going to leave after I gave u an opportunity" lol these ppl r delusional
