Elway not overrated. It’s just a era thing. Those QBs had to deal with hits that are suspensions now. And this ain’t that well if they played in the nba back then shyt. Those 80’s & 90’s qbs really had to sit in the pocket and worry about every angle of their body being destroyed. Not to mention what wr’s had to deal with.

Comparing QB stats from that era is like comparing PG stats to this era. The rules were different, the philosophy was different, the coaching was different. Tony Romo's numbers blow Troy Aikman's out of the water if you're comparing side by side but I hope you wouldn't rate Romo higher.

Looking at numbers alone would lead you to believe that Stafford is a HOF QB.
Yes comparing numbers back then to now is asinine, but compare his rankings within his era and you will see he’s overrated.

From 1991-1996 he had a 84 passer rating 116 Tds and 77 ints 59% completion

In that same time frame, Troy Aikman had a 90 passer rating 90 Tds and 62 Ints 65% completion

One of these guys is considered a Goat/Top 5 QB ever and the other is considered massively overrated

Nope. He had one more td than int in year 10 of his career. Year 10. This qb worry thing is bordering on NBA “hard 90s foul” talk....overrated talking point. Elway was in the tier alongside Bernie Kosar and Ken O’Brien during his era. He wasnt Montana or Marino. And this he took teams to the Super Bowl that had no business being there is another trash poont. Karl Mecklenberg made more first team all pro teams in the 80s than Elway and SHOULD be in the Hall of Fame. The Broncos defense was always among the best in the wack ass 80s AFC.

Dude was overrated, period.

I remember him being trashed/laughed at by the national media because of the historic Superbowl losses
Not until Terrell Davis was he looked at as a all time great
The main thing he got credit for before the Superbowl wins were his 4th quarter comebacks

“Thanks to Elway’s patented last second magic.....”:russ:

The Simpsons used to ALWAYS go in on Elway before TD saved him. :laff:
