Lit? No, but it was aight for a bored kid in the 90s especially when there wasn't much other anime to choose from at the time.

It was basically either that, Pokemon, or if you were lucky and willing to wake up early enough DBZ.

Sailor Moon became the Gold Standard for "Magical Girl" anime. That being said a High-Level it was a general story with monster-of-the-week format.

It's a great starter anime, and it knows what it is, so it works.

Funny shyt though, DIC was trying to avoid talking about Neptune and Uranus' sexual relationship, so they called them 'Cousins' but still kept the romantic advances in the show; so instead of saying they were Lesbians, DIC had made them look they were Incestuous.

Honestly, I would say Sailor Moon is the Shoujo equivalent as Dragon Ball was for Shounen. Sailor Moon's influence is heavily felt in the Mahou Shoujo genre. You have series like Precure, Madoka and more which are heavily inspired by it. Much like how the Big 3 was inspired from Dragon Ball.

It is a reminder why anime & manga have demographics. If you were a boy, you would want to watch Dragonball, Yugioh or Pokémon before Sailor Moon. Though for It's time, it was a big deal for girls watching it since for anime there wasn't too much like it. It's one of those shows that its impact greatly out does its quality.

I used to love that show. I never really finished it though. I quit after Sailor Moon S. I tried to watch the remake but it just didn't work for me. It didn't have the comical element of the original.
