Question, why is JR Smith still a starter, let alone even getting playing time?

Wade. People still guard jr regardless If he making them or not. Nobody is gonna guard wade out there regardless

Spacing for the sake of spacing is dumb. Teams are more than happy to Park their worst defenders on JR because he can't make playa off the dribble and he can't hit shots. Wade doesn't have this issue- teams still send a defender at him even though he can't shoot from 3 because he's still a threat to make plays with space. JR has been terrible all year.

JR was one of the best shooters when contested and could get hot quick. The problem is that’s all due to “feelings”. Once the player can’t find those feelings easy, he’s stuck. And his stroke isn’t pure enough to just be good regardless. I’m not even sure how his shot form worked as long as it did

It doesn't prove anything of the sort. How could you possibly believe this? The Cavs barely have any resemblance of a system, if they did, JR would be more involved in the offense, instead of being used as an escape route on offense - which is half the reason why he's not productive and inefficient. If you're only touching the ball 34 times a game, mostly at inopportune times while averaging 30 minutes, how the hell are you expected to be productive and efficient?

I'm not even going to bother reading the rest of your post after this nonsense.

:hubie:

the reason why I say its his problem is because he was an emotional bytch about coming off the fukking bench. I agree with you, JR is a streaky rhythm type guy, so he needs the touches, but his ego would rather have him start and get less touches. he aint getting no touches like that now that Love has become the 2nd option and they try to work IT back in. instead of being emotional, he should have recognized the opportunity was much greater for him coming off the bench because he basically can be as aggressive as he wants. for the starters, Bron sets the tone getting everyone including himself involved in the offense. well if you cant hit shots they dont have the time to stop and say, YOU need more touches.

Wade is a better starter than JR and it was previously believed that JR was better off the bench than Wade. well, not too much blame is going to Wade, he is doing what he is expected to do with the role he has. JR is taking all the heat because he is even trash defensively this year.

Lue jumped the gun by putting JR back in the starting lineup so then he didnt want to flip flop. I understand why he did it because they had no shooting on the wing....but if he wouldve seen this coming, he wouldve kept him on the bench. Again, he needs the touches but he can only get that amount in the 2nd unit but he is so pre-occupied with being a starter. JR was affected most by Kyrie's departure. when IT's game gets stronger, JR's will as well, but it wont be before.
