I'm interested in investing in companies like GRAB and SEA Limited through the US stock market, but sometimes I worry about potential corruption in those countries. I know tons of corruption happens in the USA as well, but for some reason I feel that because those countries are not as advanced (from a "civilized society" point of view), that it's easier to get away with it, and that there is less of a guarantee of security for investors.
I haven't been in that part of the world since 2018 and I know that some things have changed somewhat since then to make things more modernized, but I don't think things have changed that much, right? I only have experience with Thailand, a little bit of Vietnam, and even less of Cambodia. I haven't visited any of the other countries where these companies operates.
Are you invested in any of these companies?
Do you share any of the same concerns that I do?
Have you visited any of these countries recently?
What's your take on their respective progress as nations?
