Super Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Bayonetta 2
Wonderful 101
New Super Mario/Luigi Bros U (the slash is to separate the two games, as there are two different ones, same universe and worlds essentially, but different characters and levels)
Mario Kart 8
Super Smash Bros. U
Captain Toad

Those are the best games, but what do kind of games do you like to play?

The gamepad is surprisingly comfortable and fairly good for most games, but not all. Buy the wii u pro controllers. Excellent battery life, very comfy and useful for all games. Don't use the wii mote/chucks tho, while they're usable for a good deal of games, they're not really all that worthwhile.

It's mostly for my kid although I can appreciate the classics.

On the WII, you could buy old school games as well... is that still an option? and can you play the games with the Pro controllers?

How are the two Zelda games? And the NES remix game?

There is a wii mode, where it boots the system up as a wii...if u have an old wii, u can use system transfer to transfer everything.....u can dl some old school games from the wii u store, they can use the pro controller, but og games bought on the wii can not use the pro controller. Ur kid will love it, and u prob will as well, esp the fact u can watch whatever u want and the kid can still play with the game pad...that feature comes in handy
