Happy this thread hasn't become a shyt storm yet.
Jesus was black. It's not that it matters, but for me in particular it makes me feel like i wasn't simply handed a white mans religion by slave masters, but that there's something more divine about how i arrived at this belief.
I read king james bible. Its full of contradiction's just like most religious books, but i like the book of matthew most.
I don't like church a whole lot, but when i go its always based around the pastor. Not the music, not the building, solely based on the amount of philosophical knowledge the sermons have. I want to walk out with a new perspective, feels great when i'm going through something in the week and the sermon somehow matches up to my struggle and i get that enlightenment.
Overall, i know religion is in general is bigger than each individual faith. I just really like the teachings and compassion of jesus, it gives me hope and following his teachings morally keeps my spirits high. Doesn't need to be more complicated than that.
