Quincy was washed going into the 90's. Good choice by Michael.
Which is fukked up because he had arguably the best musical career ever.

If you notice in every interview Quincy Jones does he name drops Sinatra, Ray charles, sara vaughn etc etc
it's because he's worried his lasting legacy will be tied to Michael Jackson....all that work and he's just known for those 3 albums; he even created the fresh prince of bel-air and VIBE magazine
nah...people wanna hear about MJ. that shyt drives him insane

You can tell that Quincy is bothered by the fact that people associate him with MJ primarily now. He has some amazing albums in his catalog but people don't talk about them anymore, hell I bet a large portion of Thriller fans have never heard a Quincy Jones album and don't have the motivation to seek one out.
His career has boiled down to "the guy that produced Thriller".

Quincy is a musical genius and a distinguished musician.
However, if anything, he may get a little too much credit. Just look up the demos Michael created BEFORE they started working on Thriller.
This is the 70s. Think about the popular songs at that time. I said this yesterday and I'll say it again. I may sound like I'm stannin' but this shyt is revoluntionary for 1979.
I really dislike how Quincy has been throwing dirt on MJs name
Writing songs and producing & arranging are different.
The way we hear and love those records are Quincy Jones contributions.
It’s like a director. Every director can be given an identical script and they will all come out differently.
his album Back on the Block won 7 grammy's, even album of the year

nobody even talks about it anymore
I partially agree with this. However, in any field masters usually covet props from their peers over fans.
Real musicians know where Quincy stands amongst the musical pantheons. His peers would most likely have Quincy on the Mount Rushmore of American musicians over the last 100 years.
Where I agree with you is that yes, Quincy Jones probably doesn't like that some fans only attach him to Michael Jackson. Especially when Quincy was literally writing hits 30 years before Thriller.

This demo was written, produced, and recorded BEFORE Quincy ever heard of it. I'm not saying he didn't add his expert touch...it was rough... but Quincy talks as though MJ wasn't shyt and came to him like a blank piece of paper when that couldn't be more false. The foundation was laid down already.
