where I wanna be is classic, my heart and journey of a Gemini are also very good B+ albums
Even with the success of where I wanna be, seems like dude just didn’t have “it” in regards to being a star, so I think that held him back because the quality and talent were there.
Didn’t he have a battle with alcoholism or something? Should’ve stuck with Tim & Bob for his third album instead of Mike City. Folks of a particular age will forever hold “Where I Wanna Be” close and in high regard. Should’ve been bigger. Underrated ghostwriter too. Think he did some stuff on My Way and the first two JE albums. Wild that LaFace had him and Tony Rich in their writing room.
of the late 90s/early 00's class of guys like Ginuwine, Avant, Jaheim, Musiq, Case, Carl Thomas, I've probably got Donnell Jones ranked higher than most He has a good body of work
