Yeah I think that's what it is. I can only name a few full AA artists from New York from the last ten years

A boogie donq young ma, funny enough a boogie and young ma moved south then came back north

Boston and NYC are heavily West Indian compared to the 80s and 90s

Butt what about Philly?
Young M.A. is Puerto Rican and Jamaican.

To answer the thread you got a few. Mack Wilds, his album from a couple years got nominated for a Grammy, one of the best R&B albums I've listened to in this generation, like a dope modern boom bap R&B album, its called New York: A Love Story. He's AA and Dominican from Staten Island.

Also, you got Teyana Taylor. :noah:

There's this Dominican chick, she's signed to Triangle Offense (labelmates with Dave East and production duo Buda & Grandz), got put on to her via East.

R.I.P. Prodigy, she bodied this

She bad :shaq:

Most Philly artists I know of AA. There's a lot of NYC born reggae/dancehall artist poppin up in the city too.

Young MA not AA. Dave East mom is AA. People say Bobby Shmurda moms is Trini but he had said she's from here.

R&B damn near nonexistent in NYC now can't even hold you. Some cool singers out there but they ain't cuttin it. Even gospel artists aren't coming out of NYC like that anymore that should be a sign within itself.

Dave East not AA. Maybe Bobby's mom was raised here, his hood is basically 100% West Indian.

Frank Ocean from New Orleans he moved to LA after Katrina temporarily and ended up staying

Anyway low key I think the cut of musical programs in school could be a reason for this.

Musical programs helped but a lot of these artists came out the church too. It's still a big disconnect there with R&B comin out of NYC for some reason.

there were alot of aframs in north east R&B because of the disco influence but I just did quick look @ some popular 90's R&B and it's pred, non-north eastern
