No one probably wanted to have to be responsible for taking away their license and having to drive them around everywhere. There's plenty of elderly on the road with full blown dementia, no idea where the fukk they are, and nobody wants to deal with them til it's too late.

Friend of mine used to hide the car keys cuz her mother with dementia would jump in the car with her girlfriend who also had dementia. They'd go driving around in search of candy bars only to get lost a few miles from home.
