Losing icons like her makes you want to appreciate the Stevie’s, Patti’s, Gladys’s, Smokey’s, Chaka’s, Diana’s, & etc. while they’re still with us even more.

most of us won’t be even close to this level of execution. And as a black woman in the south pre civil rights? that’s like being a bird with a clipped wing living in the most savage forest
You can’t even begin to understand or fathom how she defied the odds in so many ways.
