Also low key we still thought it wasn’t THAT bad if the kid was cool with it, just being honest. We’ve come along way as a society in these last 30 years in identifying what a victim really looks like.

They used to just call girls like her "fast" back in the day and put a lot of blame on them. In some situations, that fit. But it's also clear when an older person is taking advantage of a younger person. There wasn't the risk of getting exposed and being put on blast to the world with social media like today, so it went on behind closed doors a lot. The victims were scared to speak out back then. Obviously Aaliyah had some type of feelings for Robert, but it shouldn't have been allowed to get as far as it did.
Why cover up for R. Kelly because of what whitey does? We're going to let black girls and boys keep getting molested until white folks clean up their act? 17 is the age of consent in multiple US states.
Aaliyah debut album “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number” comes out when she was 14. And she had been working with R Kelly since 12. Kelly is caught having sex with Aaliyah at 15. It safe to say their first time together happened prior to that, giving us a possible age range of 12-14.
